When it comes to improving the barrier-free environment at home, we will analyze the advantages, disadvantages and price of each tool. We will consider the terrain, space, circulation, operators, people in wheelchairs, and the daily habits or special requirements of the family members to communicate with the family members.
Unless there are safety concerns, we do not like to assume that consumers must do the right thing. Taiwan Ramp Expert will continue to develop or find more possible options to meet the various needs of home accessibility modifications.
Home barrier-free environment improvement case
This case is in a community. The entrance door is at one level, and the living room door is at another level. Total rise is almost 100 CM.
It is really difficult to improve the barrier-free environment at home in Taiwan. The wishes of family members must also be taken into account. Community passages cannot be occupied all the time outside the gate. Portable Ramp is the only solution. Some of family members don’t agree the concrete or metal board solution for the ramp after gate. The final conclusion is using Aluminum ramps and platform. Fixing those by anchors on ground like a fixed ramps to solve the in-and-out issue for wheelchair.
You can see there’s slope of ramp behind the gate. The slope is almost as same as the ramp before gate. Beside the terrain issue or difficult to operate, we will try to design the same slope gradient from begin to the end. Would not let wheelchair pusher feel different effort.

Why not just build a platform and slope in front of the living room, why do we need multiple platforms? Because even if the longest available space is stretched, the slope is too steep. Don’t forget to consider the operator’s physical strength and the weight of the wheelchair user. There is no need for home comfort. Improving the obstacle environment cannot just focus on the environment. Too steep a slope is very dangerous even for gentleman when operating a wheelchair downhill. Moreover, after the wheelchair enters the gate, it also needs turning space and space for an operator to stand, which further limits the space available inside the door.
The size of the platform that is just right for turning is also to reserve more space for the length of the ramp. Otherwise, all the slopes will be solved by the combined ramp plate outside the gate, and the length will extend to the gate of the neighbor’s house opposite! Although it is only temporarily completely blocked Community access is embarrassing, but slope board experts have achieved home barrier-free environment transformation in a limited space, making it no longer difficult for wheelchairs to enter and exit.
The advantage of this design inside the gate is that it does not require extensive construction work to retain the original appearance of the building. It can be kept fixed and does not hinder the entry and exit of ordinary people. The combined ramp outside the gate can only be erected before wheelchairs can enter and exit. It is a true transformation of the barrier-free environment of the home. It is integrated into life at the minimum cost.
